Crop functional genomics towards increased sustainability

Rick California.jpg

I am a genetics graduate researcher at the University of Georgia. My research focuses on investigating how aspects of genetic regulation and genome organization influence plant water-use-efficiency. Using a comparative genomics approach and three closely-related species of Yucca L. as my model system, I am specifically interested in the way circadian changes to chromatin accessibility modulate genes involved in crassulacean acid metabolism, a water-saving mode of photosynthesis.
